Services for Families

"I am not sure where to begin, but I was referred to you for help."
"My mother has Alzheimer's and we are at the point that we need some assistance."
"My dad refuses the care that my brother and I think he needs. What can we do?"
"My parents are 82 and 83 and living in their own home. My mother has fairly considerable cognitive impairment, accompanied by frequent agitation, combativeness, and lack of cooperation. My father has successfully coped with this for more than a year, but he cannot go on without jeopardizing his own health."
Whatever the reason family members call, Laurie knows how to help. After 25 years of helping families, Laurie knows the best way to begin is to LISTEN. After a few minutes, callers know they are in capable hands.
Laurie's relationship with clients ranges from "as needed to long term." Depending on your needs, Laurie offers any or all of the following:
- A comprehensive assessment to identify problem areas and needs for the person with memory loss and the caregiver.
- A written report of every visit and interaction with doctors and other health care professionals. This report, which answers your questions and concerns is shared with others, only as directed by you.
- Email, phone, and of course, in person consultations.
- Referrals to doctors, financial and legal services, in-home agencies, community programs and residential care homes.
- Caregiver counseling and facilitating family meetings to help family members talk openly about their situations, what they can do and expect, and plan for the future.
- Assisting families with transitions, from accepting help in the home to moving a relative to residential care.
- "Check ins" with your relative when you are away on vacation of business, to make sure your relative is safe and well cared for ... and give you peace of mind.
Testimonials
"My advice for anyone having to make decisions for an elderly parent is to seek a care manager, listen to them, learn from them, and if you are lucky enough to have Laurie White as that caregiver manager, then you have an Angel on your side too. I am one very lucky daughter to have found Laurie. Jane Penley, a long distance daughter living in Colorado
"Laurie was a tremendous help to me in making my decision about my husband's future care. I feel better equipped to discuss and resolve matters with other family members in a productive way." - Judith, a caregiving wife.
